Last summer, during my vacation in Rome, i had an excellent opportunity to visit the Vatican Museums . It is one of most important and richest museums in the world. It has multiple collections of well over 70 thousand masterpieces. Despite of that fact, that the museum is enormous,  and that in this time, was crowded by visitors (and this is one of the things that I remember the most),  the maps affixed to the tickets made looking around simple and convenient. In the vatican museums there are a plenty of exhibitions. The art exhibitions that impressed me the most, were The Sistine Chapel and The Raphael Rooms, the masterpieces of the most important artists in Renaissance .  It was a unique experience for me to be able to see all the masterpieces, that before I could only see in television or in a the school book. The painting that I have loved the most was “The transfiguration” by Raphael. By the way, it is possible that I missed some pieces, because when I was in that place, I couldn’t take my eyes of the ceilings, which are fantastic and full of magnificent paintings.

The international day of the Romani language.

Today we are celebrating the international day of the Romani language. The Romani language didn’t have a written form for a long time.  The entire tradition and history was transferred orally from generation to generation. Only after the year 1830, thanks to researchers of the gypsy folklore and language, did the first writings of the language start to appear.  What’s interesting is that the Romani people are able to communicate with one another only in the family matters, but the vocabulary related to science, politics etc,  can cause them problems. For the Romani nation, that doesn’t have its own territory, common religion or state organisations, using the Romani language is an incredibly important element of their culture and tradition. In occasion of the international day of the Romani language, many countries are organising concerts of Romani music bands. This day is the occasion to organise joint meetings and discussions between the Romani people in their native language.

Let’s learn languages!

As you may know, I’m a student of philology and I love to learn foreign languages. The acquisition of foreign vocabulary or grammar is not easy, and requires sacrifices, but the benefits that it brings are priceless. In this post, I would like to present you 5 methods, which always help me to learn foreign languages more effectively.

1.Find a motivation. This is the most important thing. When there is a will, there is a way. The objection pursued will help you to learn systematically, because you will be more involved in learning.

2.Plan your study, and try to find time for learning everyday. Remember that even 10 minutes of daily work will bring you a better result, than 2 hours of learning twice a week only.

3.Create your own vocabulary. Write down all new words and repeat them systematically.

4.Find someone, who will talk to you in the languages that you learn. Thanks to that, step by step, you will learn how to speak fluently, and you will overcome language barrier.

5.Watch films and programs in the language that you learn. Don’t worry if you’re not able to understand everything. Practice makes perfect!  You can also watch them with subtitles.

I hope that these 5 pieces of advice will help you to improve your language skills.

Magic’s place.

Piazza di Spagna

The name of this square comes from it’s location near the Embassy of Spain. The most recognizable place in this square is the Baroque Spanish Steps, which were built in order to connect the Bourbon Spanish Embassy to the Church of Trinità dei Monti. These stairs are composed of 138 steps and are the second biggest stairs in Europe. Another interesting construction situated in the middle of this square is Fontanna della Barcaccia, sculped by Pietro e Gian Lorenzo Bernini. These monuments remind of 1598’s flood, when the waters of Tiber washed a boat to the middle of the square. This magical place attracts the attention of people from the entire world. It’s definitely worth visiting!

Hello!

Hello, my name is Klaudia. For the past three years I have been studying Italian philology in Torun – a  beautiful medieval town located by Vistula river. Upon finishing studies in Torun, I’ve decided to move to Poznan in order to continue learning Italian and get a master’s degree. For me, Poznan is a lovely town, full of tourist attractions and possibilities. My main passion is learning foreign languages. That’s why I learn Italian, English and French. In the future I would like to become a professional translator. In my opinion it’s a great profession, which helps people who come from different parts of the world to communicate with one another. This blog will not, however, be devoted to language learning only. I would also like to present topics related with my other passions like travelling, cooking, history etc.
